Leash Training Tips

Is anyone struggling to leash train your puppy? I have a few tricks.

1. Get your puppy used to wearing a collar or harness. Put it on them in the house and have lots of playtime with treats while they are wearing it.
2. Practice getting your puppy to come to you (instead of where it wants). Decide on a noise, make the noise and hold out a treat. Have the puppy come to you and reward him or her with a treat. Gradually back up the more your practice. Eventually you can start taking a few steps once your puppy gets to you before you give him or her the treat.
3. When you are on a walk and your puppy is about to dash off, take a step away and make the noise. They should come to you.
4. And as always, be patient with them.
