It is important to keep up not only with local news, but also international news that bring new information. Diabetes is a very common disease not only in the United States, but all over the world. Here we are able to further look into food labels and how they affect us. Calorie count shown on menus has been slowly increasing. People want to know what they are consuming and labels such as “low fat” are not always accurate. It is important to know what you are ingesting into your body, but also spending your time and money on.
Diabetes UK has launched a campaign to improve food labelling after a poll commissioned by the charity called for more clarity from producers and providers. The charity’s Food Upfront campaign is asking for mandatory, front-of-pack traffic light labelling on all pre-packaged food, and calorie labelling in cafes and restaurants.
