Seven Benefits of Regular Physical Activity

Everyone knows that exercise is good for your physical and mental health.  Here are 7 of the many benefits of physical activity.

  1. Exercise controls weight 

Exercise can help you control your weight and prevent additional weight gain.  Keep in mind that you don’t need to spend hours in the gym.  If you don’t have the time, try making an effort to move more through the day.  Some examples are taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or taking walks on your lunch break.  Just remember consistency is key.

  1. Exercise can help combat health conditions and diseases

Regular exercise increases your “good” cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides.  It will help keep your blood flowing, which will decrease your risk of cardiovascular diseases.  Health problems such as strokes, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, depression, anxiety, arthritis, and more.

  1. Exercise improves mood 

Gym sessions or working out can help you destress after a stressful day.  Accomplishing goals in the gym will also improve your confidence which will improve your mood.

  1. Exercise boosts energy

Regular exercise can improve your muscular and cardiovascular health leaving you feeling more energized as you accomplish daily chores, and work through the day.

  1. Exercise promotes better sleep

Exercise can also help improve the quality and length of sleep.

  1. Exercise puts the spark back into your sex life 

If you’re feeling too tired to enjoy physical intimacy, regular physical activity can help.  Women can experience enhanced arousal.  Men who exercise regularly will experience fewer issues with erectile dysfunction.

  1. Exercise and be fun and social!!

Let’s remember that exercise can be fun too!  It gives you an opportunity to meet people with similar interests.  So find an activity you like, dancing, hiking, tennis, soccer, or golf.
