Pixel Art with Minecraft

Students in 3rd-7th grade can stretch their imaginations in this Thanksgiving week special workshop series! Students will be using both digital and hands-on tools to create pixelated and retro art. Artists will largely be utilizing Minecraft and making some “real world” Minecraft pixelated props, but will also getting creative and square with other digital and physical methods to learn how to create the pixelated look. Kids’ Holiday Fun Workshop

For just $10 an hour, we’ll supervise your child (age5-12) and provide them with fun holiday-themed activites while you support local Huntsville artists and get your holiday shopping done! Gingerbread Class

Nothing speaks of the Holidays more than gingerbread! Come learn some gingerbread decorating techniques from Crazy Bakey Things and Happy Tummy! We will show you how to make royal icing, give you tips and tricks for piping, and decorate with sugars, sprinkles and candy pearls! Foraging Natural Color: Berry Inks with Nathan Harper

Students will learn how to make artist quality drawing and writing ink out of berries that can be found locally. Materials supplied by student: Small jars with lids, mortar and pestle, fine mesh strainer and a funnel. Optional: brushes or pens and paper to test your new ink on! Any berries that you want to bring yourself. This workshop will take place in the Lowe Mill A&E Classroom , studio 2008 from 4-6pm on Saturday, November 24th.

Linoleum Reduction Workshop

Join me for this one day workshop. Learn the process of printing where the whole image is created using a single block of linoleum, cutting away more with each layer of color. Exploring Sashiko and Hand-Stitching with Aaron Sanders Head

Participants will learn the basics behind hand-stitching, as well as the stitches and patterns of Sashiko stitching. After learning the basic rules of Sashiko, participants will then be encouraged to bend those rules and develop their own stitching voice.  Participants will learn the meditative and mindful properties of hand-stitching, and learn to read Sashiko patterns.  Students are provided with naturally dyed fabric for stitching on, along with Sashiko thread and other naturally dyed thread for stitching with, and students will leave with at least…
