Monthly Maker: Aluminum Pen

Join us on this Thing Thursday for our group Monthly Maker guided build! Participants will be making an aluminum pen utilizing metalworking shop resources. This activity is available to all members and Monthly Maker subscribers at no additional cost. Drop-ins can participate for a $20 fee while material supplies last. Additional material choices may be available for an additional fee. Interested participants may also drop by for the remainder of March during public hours to complete this build individually.

Introduction to Book Binding

  If you’ve ever been curious about book binding, this class is for you! This introduction course teaches basic structures and stitches that every book artist should know in order to create a multitude of books. Instructor will discuss tools and materials for bookbinding and explore adhesives, paper types and uses, as well as grain for paper and book cloth. Pressure Printing

This one day workshop on the Vandercook press will explore the use of pressure printing and layering to create imagery for a broadside. Pressure printing is a relief technique that uses low relief collage and stencils directly on the press. The results are prints with rich, painterly, and spontaneous layers and textures. This low-tech process allows you to create layered, multi-colored backgrounds and imagery. Discussion and demos will focus on the effects of various materials and textures on this alternative…

Linoleum Reduction Workshop

Join me for this one day workshop. Learn the process of printing where the whole image is created using a single block of linoleum, cutting away more with each layer of color. Intro to Letterpress

In this one day class you will learn the basic mechanics of letterpress printing on a Vandercook SP-15 press, set up a form of images and type, and print an edition of 10 prints to exchange with other participants or take them all home to share with friends and family.

Exploring Sashiko and Hand-Stitching with Aaron Sanders Head

Participants will learn the basics behind hand-stitching, as well as the stitches and patterns of Sashiko stitching.
