Tent City Project 2018
December 22 @ 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
Welcome to the Tent City Project 2018!
In loving memory of John Ayers and Michael Laudano.
This is our 10th ANNIVERSARY, so we are hoping to break all past records and really show out for our community!
Huntsville is very blessed to have so many wonderful volunteers, along with such an amazing community of missionaries working together to help our homeless friends. The Tent City Project is designed to help our friends make it through the winter and hopefully have a joyful Christmas. For those of you returning, thank you for choosing us again as your charity. To all of our newcomers, I’m so excited to have you and can’t wait for all the blessings you will give and receive. This organization is what it is because of all of you and your beautiful hearts.
Our beautiful city is growing, but unfortunately that means so is homelessness. Homelessness in Huntsville and Madison County is on the rise! We have well over 500 displaced citizens in our area, and we aim to help them any way we can!
We began this project in 2008, and we have learned a lot about this process. We have found that what seems to work best in achieving our goal is to pick one (or more) *specific* items (instead of collecting aimlessly). We have a very extensive list of items to collect, so you (individual or group) can pick a number that you’re comfortable with (or the total amount needed) of any (or multiple) item(s) and work towards that. There are also many used household items needed, so feel free to go that route, as well.
OUR GOAL THIS YEAR IS 300+ OF EACH ITEM! I urge you to get your family, friends, neighbors, churches, schools, and workplaces involved. Feel free to set up donation boxes with the list of items needed. Anything we get over our goal will help sustain our friends throughout the rest of the cold season and into the Spring.
*You do not have to attend delivery to participate.*
There are multiple drop off locations (to be listed below) set up all over North Alabama. We will also have many volunteers that do pickups. We will collect until Sunday December 16th and deliver the follow Saturday December 22nd.
We have designated volunteers who deliver to the camps. A small amount of hardworking volunteers will be chosen to participate in delivery. It will not be first come first serve, but will be based off of participation instead. This is a public event, so if you receive an invite and do not wish to be involved, simply decline. I can’t thank you all enough for your continued support. This is an amazing thing to be a part of and I hope you will be as blessed as I have been each year.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP TO BE A DROP OFF LOCATION, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Huntsville Hospital Mobile Medical Unit has signed on again this year! We will also be offering the Mobile Salon again!!
