Jazz in the Park- Huntsville (JITPH) is rapidly becoming one of the hottest summer concert series in Huntsville-Madison County. JITPH is a collaboration between the City of Huntsville Office of Multicultural Affairs and Magic City Smooth Jazz in collaboration with local partners including Lexus of Huntsville, PNC Bank, WZDX TV 54, Royal Funeral Home, Drake State Community & Technical College, Royal Funeral Home, Alabama A&M University, Bryant Bank, Madison County Commsion District 6, Madison County Legislators Laura Hall, Mike Ball and Rex Reynolds, Renasant Bank, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau, City of Huntsville Parks & Recreation, Operation Green Team/Landscape Management, HEMSI, HPD, Buffalo Rock, T-Time Management, LLC, Tangled String Studios, WJAB 90.9 FM, Arts Huntsville, WBHP 94.1 FM, Homegrown, LLC and Downtown Huntsville, Inc. Magic City Smooth Jazz is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cultural activities throughout the state through various styles of jazz in Alabama at no cost to the public. Bernard Lockhart serves as Executive Director. Since its inception in 2008, Magic City Smooth Jazz has hosted 50+ free concerts featuring 250+ artists and reaching 20,000+ patrons. Previous performers have included a Who’s Who of contemporary jazz favorites including: Marc Antoine, Cindy Bradley, Norman Brown, Down to the Bone, Eric Darius, Euge Groove, Jazz In Pink, Greg Karukas, Keiko Matsui, Marion Meadows, Lin Rountree, Marion Meadows, Vincent Ingala & Jonathan Fritzen.
Jazz in the Park- Huntsville is held every Sunday in September from 6-9 pm in Big Spring Park East, and the concerts are free to the public. The 2017 JPH concert series was a smashing success, and each concert drew audiences of more than 2000 attendees who enjoyed an afternoon of high quality music by local and international jazz recording artists. The 2018 concert series will be held September 2, 9, 15, 22 and 29, and we have scheduled an awesome lineup of performances, including: Gail Jhonson and Roland Gresham, Adam Hawley and the KAYO Band, Kim Scott and T.A.D. of Jazz; Brian Simpson and Norris Jones and Theo Croker and Carmen Lundy.
