Guided Meditation and Expressing Creativity Workshop

Meditative Art is applying a meditative state of mind while expressing creativity. Meditative Art is less about drawing and more about slowing down and opening up to your inner creative and intuitive flow. It’s a simple, reflective creative practice that anyone can do!

This class will focus on the mandala, an integrated structure organized around a unifying center. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself and can be found repeatedly in nature. The mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles of the earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community. It is a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite.

The class will begin with a quick overview of mandalas and see examples for inspiration. Then, Michelle will walk the class through a guided relaxation meditation opening to our creative flow. Immediately after, we will use the provided colored pencils and markers on drawing paper to create a personal mandala. If you would rather use a different medium such as paint and canvas, please feel free to bring your own supplies. Each person will leave relaxed, with a new sense of their creative expression, and with a one-of-kind piece of artwork.
